β steady β Holds one level all the way. Warm most of the way through. In the first half it was tender and painful at the same time, which is the state people mean by being moved. Very little of it ever resolves. Marked above the line: 3 that landed as a blow, 3 that got a real laugh.

It plays better than it reviews β the watch lands harder than the write-ups suggest.
βCompared to its ilk, Suicide Squad is an excellently quirky, proudly raised middle finger to the staid superhero-movie establishment.β
Brian Truitt, USA Today Β· 88
βSuicide Squad is not the darkest mainstream superhero comic book movie ever made, nor is it even the darkest live-action film featuring Batman ever made. However, it is gleefully nihilistic, and it takes a different approach to what has become a fairly familiar story form at this point, right at the moment when it feels like superhero movies either have to evolve or die.β

βLike Avengers Assemble forced through a Deadpool mangle, Suicide Squad gives new life to DCβs big-screen universe. So bad-to-the-bone itβs good.β
Dan Jolin, Empire Β· 80
βIn the end, the characters are more lasting than the story, which is a standard save-the-city-from-destruction yarn. But this crew is a riot, and their world is intriguing and even a little meaningful.β

βDavid Ayer's film may not always work, but when it does, it's a perverse delight.β

βThe majority of the movie just feels choppy, editing was all over the place. Like they had a final product but because of disagreements, they took out a lot of scenes, shorten the runtime, and added others, making a giant choppy mess in the end. Scenes don't properly flow, including the flashbacks. Some scenes feel like they were added later (Probably the re-shoots) and they definitely didn't fit, particularly the elevator scene with Harley.β

βSummertime 2016 has not been very kind to DC Comics-based personalities looking to shine consistently like their big screen Marvel Comics counterparts. Following the super-sized dud that was _Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice_ released a few months ago must really put some major pressure on Warner Bros. to gamble on ensuring that the presence of **Suicide Squad** does not meet the same kind of indifferent reception. Well, it turns out that although the anticipation was high for writer-directorβ

β*** This review may contain spoilers *** Suicide Squad has a horrible script. First, there was the story--such as it was--itself: A super villain with the power to end the world goes to work in a universe that has established Batman and Wonder Woman. So what do the authorities do? Call up Batman and Wonder Woman? Of course not! Hire a bunch of criminals to save the world. It would be like if the U.S. was invaded by China, and we went and got the Taliban to protect us. So, from the very β

A chaotic team of criminals thrown into a dangerous mission. I enjoyed the characters, action, and crazy energy, even though the story felt a bit messy at times.
