how much it moved you
Two separate readings, not parts of the score β the score says how much of it held you, these say what kind of watch it was.
Nobody has rated this on FlickFeel yet. This is public discussion of this title, read into a curve. It is not a rating and it never becomes one.
Read from 18 comments (17 from Metacritic, 1 from TMDB reviews) β 3 of them described how it moves.
Thin evidence β the shape below rests on 3 comments. The shaded band is how wide the uncertainty actually is, and it is drawn to scale.
Not enough people said when to name this shape. The line is what the evidence draws, not a finding.

βA very dense and slow film. Although its duration is not excessive it feels that way.β

Published reviews, not felt experience β a different question from the one above, and never mixed into the FlickFeel score.
βHardly anything actually happens, and yet it's one of the most emotionally involving dramas ever made.β

βTokyo Story moves quite slowly by our Western standards, and requires more patience at first than some moviegoers may be willing to supply. Its effect is cumulative, however; the pace comes to seem perfectly suited to the material.β

β[Hara's] sad dignity and emotional generosity are compelling.β
Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian Β· 100
βYasujiro Ozu's portrait of familial relations, first seen in 1953, is marked by an indefinable melancholy that settles on the frame as softly as snow.β

βEven on the basis of a limited exposure to his work, the story seems archetypal Ozu.β

Scores from Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes, read 24 Aug 2026. Quotes belong to their publications and link to the full reviews.
Grouped by where it was written, because a considered review and a reaction typed an hour after the credits are different things. Every quote links to its source.

βA deliberate and thoughtful film. It was nice peeking behind the curtain of Japanese culture. "Tokyo Story" reveals that the Japanese people aren't much different than you and me. It isn't quite an entertaining film, but it is an important one.β
