how much it moved you
Two separate readings, not parts of the score β the score says how much of it held you, these say what kind of watch it was.
Nobody has rated this on FlickFeel yet. This is public discussion of this title, read into a curve. It is not a rating and it never becomes one.
Read from 110 comments (80 from Reddit, 27 from Metacritic, 3 from TMDB reviews) β 24 of them described how it moves.
γ°οΈ uneven β Peaks and dips, no clear shape. Hard going most of the way through. Marked above the line: 1 that landed as a blow.

βIt's such a gut punch and as you're recovering from it you look up to see a long line of gutpunches to come still.β

βI had to pause it at one point because I was too overwhelmed. Just sat and sobbed for a few minutes before I could continue.β
βI have literally never been more angry at a film than the endingβ

βI liked the movie and ending but I did not tear up. It just didn't hit me in the right way, although it was still a powerful ending.β

βThe movie remains one of the most startling and moving animated films ever. It is also, with the likes of βThe 400 Blows,β βKes,β and βVagabond,β one of the finest films about being young in an indifferent world.β

βAn emotional experience so powerful that it forces a rethinking of animation.β
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times Β· 100
βThis animated Japanese masterpiece is a war story as wrenching as any live-action movie.β

βWhile a child might be affected by the film, it takes the weight of a certain number of years to fully absorb what director Isao Takahata has put up on the screen.β
James Berardinelli, ReelViews Β· 100
βBased on Akiyuki Nosaka's semi-autobiographical novel, Takahata's alternately sweeping and intimate animated feature is a moving depiction of the fates of cast-off children who become casualties of war.β

Grouped by where it was written, because a considered review and a reaction typed an hour after the credits are different things. Every quote links to its source.

βThis was the first animated movie that made me cry as an adult. It still does. Two children are left as orphans in World War 2 and have to survive. Such a basic premise, but this shows intimately what the effects of war are on children (a topic not covered by other movies). And as it's about children, it has more of an emotional impact. Described as one of the greatest war movies of all time by Roger Ebert, the work of art will impact you like no other anime. Its interesting to noβ
